Siroflex have been the innovators of construction sealants and adhesives manufacturing for over 45 years. Specialising in the production of high quality ISO certified sealants and adhesives for use in the construction industry worldwide. In order to meet challenging economic impacts to the business, Siroflex decided for the first time in its history to establish an independent product brand, outside of its established SX portfolio brand. The New brand had to be targeted at the construction industry through builders merchants, Siroflex’s customer base. Drawinginc was challenged with creating a new brand name which could be used across the EU. We conducted a worldwide search in order to check availability for registering and protecting the trademark. The proposed OB1 brand name was available for registering and also checked with other key markets in the EU for its suitability. Within the construction industry across the EU, the brand OB1 worked as a product name without requiring translation for other languages. With it’s bold design and colours, the OB1 identity is designed to stand out from it’s competitors. Part of the design process was to look into typography which works on a minimum surface area. In particular, the products packaging and how the brand catches the customers eye above and beyond the nearest competitor. The brand design establishes an identity system that can be used for sub-brands across different languages to allow the identity to grow within the specific marketplace. To develop the concept further, drawinginc created a visual representation of product's use on dedicated construction surfaces. This gives the target audience a clear visual indicator of the product's purpose and in turn increases the brand awareness among the target audience.
